![]() The only difference is that precise versions allow for one additional "depth" on the chiseling. ![]() For each of these chisel types, there are standard and precise versions. There are 3 types of chisels: square, bevel, and slope. In Boundless, you are able to "chisel" any block into literally hundreds of different shapes. In other voxel-based games, if you want to build a ramp or some stairs, you build craft those special. Due to all this, Boundless is very much a social network in its own right and, upon release, may very well be worthy of being called an MMORPG.Ĭhiseling. The settlement on any given planet with the most prestige is automatically the "capital" and is shown on the main compass atop the game with a yellow marker. Each block you place has a "prestige" value and, so long as it's in a beaconed plot for that settlement, it counts towards that settlement's prestige. Settlements grow by simply building in plots within that settlement. Players who have plots adjacent to one another are linked automatically into a "settlement". You control plots you own with a Beacon Control. You claim "plots" of land in Boundless which are L x W x H boxes of space you own. While you can place blocks anywhere you want in the world, if blocks are not placed in a beaconed "plot", they will regenerate to what was originally there over a day or two. This is, in fact, how most players use portals - to close great distances instantly. The start of a portal can be on one planet while the other side can be on another distant planet. When looking at a portal, aside from the occasional second or two to render (which they are always improving), you see directly through the portal to the destination as though you were already there. When you walk through a portal, you are instantly at the destination without a load screen. Portals are set up with a start and an end. One of the ways in which you can travel great distances is via portals. Everything you get to, you can break, collect, craft, build with, etc. The only load screens you'll see are when you start up the game. While other similar games separate worlds/dimensions/etc with loading screens, Boundless is an absolutely massive, procedurally-generated, seamless world. The graphics are very impressive for this genre. ![]() What is different about Boundless from other voxel-based games? The post from hereon will be straight to the point.
